Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car In North Lanarkshire

A woman has died in hospital after she was hit by a car in North Lanarkshire.

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle on the A89 Coatbridge Road at Bargeddie at about 8.30am.

She was taken by ambulance to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie but died, police said.

The female driver of a red Toyota Aygo involved in the incident was uninjured but has been left extremely upset by the incident.

The road was closed as crash scene investigators examined the scene.

Police have appealed for information about the incident.
