Petrol Bomb thrown At Car In Glasgow
A delivery driver has been left seriously injured after he was attacked before a petrol bomb was thrown at his car
The 29 year old was sitting in his car outside the Indian takeaway he delivers for in Glasgow when a man opened the driver's door and attacked him.
The assault on Thursday evening left the man with a serious injury to his arm.
He was awaiting surgery at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Friday, where medical staff said he is in a stable condition.
When his car, a Red Honda Jazz, was being taken away by a removal truck shortly before 11pm on Thursday, a man appeared and threw a petrol bomb into the vehicle, setting it alight.
The car was burnt-out.
Both incidents happened on Castlemilk Road near to Ashcroft Drive in Castlemilk.
The suspect for the attack is white, 6ft, slim and bald. He was wearing a black t-shirt.
The man involved in the petrol bombing was wearing dark clothing and ran from Ashcroft Drive into Castlemilk Road.
Police cannot confirm if the same suspect carried out both incidents.
Detective Inspector Tom McKean said: ''From our enquiries so far, we know that this was a targeted attack and that both incidents are linked.
There was no attempt to rob the man in his car, just to injure him and then to go after his car.
The attack on the man happened mid-evening and in quite a busy area, so I am sure someone will have seen it happen.
Castlemilk Road is residential and I have no doubt that this attack on the car would have been witnessed.
Thankfully, the driver of the removal vehicle was not injured but this must have been a terrifying experience for him.
Officers are carrying our door-to-door enquiries and reviewing CCTV to trace those responsible.''
Additional officers are patrolling the area to provide public reassurance.
