The Scottish Football Association (SFA) should set up an independent inquiry into allegations of historical child abuse, the Deputy First Minister has said.
Police Officer Seriously Hurt In Edinburgh
A female police officer has suffered a serious head injury during an arrest.
The woman was trying to apprehend a man in Whyte Place, Meadowbank, Edinburgh, in the early hours of Friday when she was hurt.
She was initially taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but has now been transferred to the Western General with a serious head injury.
A 45-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with assault.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We can confirm that an on-duty officer was injured while trying to carry out an arrest in Whyte Place in the early hours of Friday September 11.
"The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment.
"A 45-year-old man has been charged with assault following this incident.''
A man is in serious condition in hospital after he was stabbed in an altercation.
