Probe After Empty Cars Found In Firth Of Forth

Police are investigating after two cars crashed through a harbour wall and plunged into the Firth of Forth.

The emergency services were called after a passer-by spotted a car in the water at West Shore Road in the Granton area of Edinburgh shortly before 7am.

Police attended and found two cars in the sea. Both vehicles were empty.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh responded along with other emergency services to West Shore Road at around 6.55am on Thursday following a report of a car within the water.

"Upon arrival it was established that two vehicles were in the water and efforts are continuing to recover them.

"Inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding this incident.''
