Rangers Demo: Cops Promise More Arrests

A man has been arrested after a large protest by Rangers fans outside Ibrox stadium.

Police say they expect to make further arrests after reviewing CCTV footage of the demonstration at Friday night's abandoned Championship match against Hearts.

Hundreds of supporters gathered outside the front door of Ibrox to protest over claims the board was ready to mortgage off the stadium and Murray Park to Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley as security on a loan.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "An investigation is under way following several acts of disorder at Ibrox.

"One man has been arrested in connection with an incident and officers are in the process of collecting and reviewing CCTV images which will no doubt lead to further arrests.

"Anyone involved in criminal activity can be assured that officers will identify them and they will be arrested.''

Police have appealed for anyone with information that could assist their inquiries to contact them.

The match was abandoned after 25 minutes due to snow on the pitch.

Craig Whyte Latest from Craig Whyte Trial

Sir David Murray has told a jury he would "categorically'' not have done a deal with Craig Whyte to buy Rangers if he thought the money to clear the club's debts was coming from future season-ticket sales.
