Remains Found In Country Park Are Missing Dad
Police have confirmed remains found in a country park are those of a missing father-of-five.
John Murphy, 53, disappeared from his home in Dennistoun, Glasgow, in May last year.
His family were among other relatives of missing people informed after human remains were found at Mugdock Country Park in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, last month.
His family have now been told the remains are those of Mr Murphy.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The remains discovered within the grounds of Mugdock Country Park on Tuesday March 15 have been identified as those of John Murphy. His family are aware.
"A post-mortem has taken place and the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.''
Married Mr Murphy left his home in Craigpark Drive at about 7am on May 12 and headed towards Duke Street to catch a bus to work.
He did not turn up at his workplace and was reported missing by his family that evening.
A police watchdog probe was launched after the remains of the 52-year-old were found in a house in Dumfries in February last year.
The accident happened at about 7.50pm on Thursday in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire.
More than 70 firefighters were needed to bring the blaze under control at Blochairn Fruit Market in the early hours of Thursday.
