Scottish Tory Leader Ruth Davidson Gets Engaged

Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson has got engaged to her long-term partner.

Ms Davidson, 37, announced on Twitter that she had proposed to Jen Wilson, 34, during a trip to Paris.

Alongside a picture of an engagement ring, she tweeted: "So, I've been away for a few days as I had an important question to ask. Delighted Jen said yes. Very happy.''

A Scottish Conservative spokesman said: "Normally we wouldn't comment on personal issues but everybody in the party will want to wish Ruth and Jen the very best.''

The engagement follows the Holyrood election in which Ms Davidson led her party to become the second largest in the Scottish Parliament, overtaking Labour with 31 seats.

Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale, who recently revealed she has a female partner, tweeted: "Massive congratulations to you both from Louise and I.''
