Teen Charged With Murdering Bailey Gwynne

A teenager accused of stabbing to death a pupil at school will go on trial for murder next month.

Bailey Gwynne, who was 16, was fatally injured at Cults Academy in Aberdeen on October 28 last year.

At the High Court in Glasgow, prosecutors rejected a lesser plea of culpable homicide entered by lawyers for the 16-year-old accused.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be tried for murder at the High Court in Aberdeen on March 1.

He faces two other charges of carrying knives and knuckledusters, which he denies. The trial is expected to last five days.

The school, in the west end of the city, was closed for two days following the incident.
