Rape Case Appeal Men Come Forward
Police investigating the rape of a woman in a city street say that two men they were keen to trace have come forward.
The 24-year-old was subjected to the serious sexual assault in Dixon Road in the Govanhill area of Glasgow between 1am and 2am on Monday.
Police appealed for four men to contact them after reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
The woman was seen outside the Spar shop on Cathcart Road shortly after 1am and then again about at about 1.50am.
Two men with yellow high-visibility jackets were seen near the shop around that time. Police said that these two men have now contacted them.
Detectives are still trying to trace two other men who the woman was seen with.
One was described as having a sallow complexion and very dark-coloured hair. He was wearing a dark jumper, trousers and white trainers.
The other man also had a sallow complexion and dark-coloured hair, and was wearing dark clothes.
Police said the men could have information which may prove vital for the investigation.
Detective Inspector Liz McLean, who is leading the inquiry, said: ''Our review of CCTV images from the surrounding area has shown there were several people around the Cathcart Road area around the time of the incident.``
She added: ''I'm aware this incident will be a cause for concern for local residents and I would like to reassure people there are a number of additional patrols in the area.
"Anyone who has any information or concerns can speak to an officer or contact their local police office.''
