Van Passenger Killed In Crash With Lorry On A1
A woman has died in a head-on crash between a van and a lorry.
The accident between a Mercedes Vito and a Scania lorry happened on the A1 near Grantshouse in the Borders at around 3.40pm on Sunday.
A 20-year-old female passenger, who was travelling in the Vito van, died at the scene of the collision.
The drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, while another passenger in the van is being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.
The road was closed while officers investigated the scene.
Sergeant Gary Taylor said: "Unfortunately a young woman has lost her life and we are currently working to establish the full set of circumstances that led up to this collision.
"I urge anyone who was travelling on the A1 on Sunday afternoon and who remembers seeing either the Mercedes Vito van or the Scania lorry to please contact police if you've not already done so.
"Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively a report can be made anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.''
