A police watchdog probe was launched after the remains of the 52-year-old were found in a house in Dumfries in February last year.
Watchdog To Examine Force's Response After Death
The police response to concerns about a man who later died is to be investigated.
The 31-year-old was found seriously ill in Glasgow on August 24 and died on his way to hospital.
The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (Pirc) has now launched an investigation into the initial police response following a report of concern for the man's welfare.
A Pirc spokesman said: "The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has instructed the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner to undertake an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 31-year-old man who was found seriously ill in Glasgow on August 24, 2016.
"The man was treated at the scene but later died on the way to hospital.
"The investigation will focus on the initial police response after a report of concern was made about the man's welfare.
"A report on the commissioner's findings will be submitted to the COPFS in due course.''
The accident happened at about 7.50pm on Thursday in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire.
More than 70 firefighters were needed to bring the blaze under control at Blochairn Fruit Market in the early hours of Thursday.
The multi-coloured walkway will run up to the entrance of Silverburn shopping centre between Saturday and Sunday.
