Woman Dies After Being Hit By Two Cars On A8

A woman has died after being hit by two cars as she crossed a road in Glasgow.

The 50-year-old pedestrian was struck by a Ford Focus before being hit by a Vauxhall Astra heading in the opposite direction.

The incident happened at Alexandra Parade at its junction with Cumbernauld Road in Dennistoun at about 7.45pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she later died.

Police Scotland have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses.

The force said in a statement: ''Relatives are aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

''The drivers of both cars were uninjured but have been left badly shaken by the incident.

''An investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances of the crash and the road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigation and local inquiries to be undertaken.''
