Woman Targeted In Sex Attack In Kirkcaldy

A woman has been subjected to a "prolonged'' sexual attack in a car park beside a block of flats.

A man attempted to rape the 26-year-old in Turriff Place in Kirkcaldy, Fife, at about 10.30pm on Sunday.

Detectives said they were keen to trace a man who talked to her as she walked along Dallas Drive shortly before the attack.

He told the woman he lived locally and had been drinking earlier in the evening with a friend called Alan in Harris Drive.

Anyone who has any information that can help police trace the suspect is being asked to come forward.

He is described as being 5ft 7ins, about 30 and wearing a dark jacket with light-coloured jeans and trainers.

Detective sergeant Samantha Davidson said: "This was a horrendous ordeal for anyone to go through and an extensive investigation is now under way in order to trace the suspect as quickly as possible.

"Such incidents are thankfully rare and extra high-visibility patrols have been deployed to the area.

"I would ask anyone who recognises the description of the man and may have spoken with him earlier in the evening to contact police on 101 or, alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.''
