Fergie defends Christina Aguilera

Black Eyed Peas star Fergie has stuck up for Christina's Super Bowl performance which saw her muddle up her words during the US national anthem.

Christina fluffed some words as she belted out 'The Star Spangled Banner' before Sunday night's match which was being watched by 100 million people.

“You know what?” Fergie said on Dan Patrick’s radio show . “It’s such a huge venue, your nerves take a hold of you. I completely understand. She’s one of the best singers of our time. Nobody can take that away from you. … But you get nervous at these things. We’re human.”

Fergie was also quick to admit her own performance was fault-free.

"Some of my notes were pitchy to me. It was so exhilarating. The whole thing. It was so big. That’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing."
