Britney Spears: Before and after

Britney releases the photos to highlight the effects of airbrushing for children.

New teaching packs will be sent to primary schools to show children as young as eight the effects of airbrushing. The packs will include pictures of Britney before and after retouching to give pupils a realistic idea of body image.

In a campaign against Size Zero culture, the Government hopes the untampered shots will help to manage kids' expectations about their figure.

Equalities minister Lynne Featherstone said, "I want children to recognise their value is much more than physical appearance."

In the past Britney has been one of the few cover girls to publicly release pictures of herself before airbrushing, because she felt it was important for imperfections to be highlighted. "Britney is proud of her body - imperfections and all," a source told The Mirror at the time.

Britney releases 'Criminal', her latest single from album 'Femme Fatale', next week.
