Ellie Goulding to perform for Barack Obama
The UK singer will join the Black Eyed Peas and the legend that is Kermit the Frog at the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.
Ellie performed for Prince William and Kate Middleton at their wedding reception earlier this year and now is set to perform for Mr President himself.
The Christmas tree ceremony, hosted by Carson Daly, takes place near the White House with the president and his family officially lighting the tree.
Other performers will include Big Time Rush, the band OneRepublic, country star Rodney Atkins and singer Marsha Ambrosius.
This will be the 89th year for the holiday tree lighting. The tradition began with President Calvin Coolidge in 1923.
This is the first lighting of a new National Christmas Tree that was planted in March. It’s a 26-foot-tall Colorado blue spruce from a New Jersey tree nursery. Strong winds in February toppled the last tree that had stood on the Ellipse since 1978.
Ellie sang Your Song, Starry Eyed plus covers by Stevie Wonder and The Killers.
The 'Your Song' performer is thought to be the only artist at the after-dinner party.
