George Michael's Amy tribute

George Michael's Symphonica tour kicks off tonight (Mon) in the wonderful city of Prague.

Symphonica: The Orchesta Tour sees George makes his eagerly awaited return to the stage, his first European dates since the widely acclaimed 25Live tour concluded in Copenhagen in August 2008.

George has never toured like this; he will perform not only a carefully chosen selection of his own songs, spanning all his remarkable, near 30-year career, but he will cover some of his favourite songs from other artists. The music will be re-worked and re-arranged for the orchestra which will accompany George at each location.

George has admitted, on Twitter to a few nerves, "I'm very nervous, which is not normally the case, but it's such a different show to any I've done before. The Prague Opera House only holds 700 people! That means the whole shebang I've put together for you doesn't fit on the tiny stage!  But hopefully what we lose in terms of staging we'll gain in intimacy....:)"

And the star's revealed he will be paying tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, "I've decided to sing one of Amy's songs in tribute....Now just have to decide what to's a toss up between the kaftan and the sarong and crocs combo....I may be really daring and wear.....A Black Armani suit...... :)

When the tour was first announced the star tweeted, "Believe me I'm going to work my hairy greek arse off in the next few months to create something magical for you xx I really mean that people"

George starts 19 dates in Britain at the end of October.
