George Michael has confirmed that he will be playing at the Olympics closing ceremony this Sunday!
George Michael "doing well"
George is said to be making good progress following a bout of pneumonia.
The illness forced the 48-year-old to cancel his entire Symphonica tour but following a spell in intensive care his doctor in Vienna has said he is "doing well".
However, the physician didn't confirm reports that the former Wham frontman would be able to go home for Christmas.
"We know that he is doing well and we are generally optimistic," Christoph Zielinski told state broadcaster ORF.
He stated that whether George is allowed to go back to London for the holidays "is something that we are not in the position to decide."
"That is something that must be decided in consultation with the patient."
George's partner Fadi Fawaz had previously tweeted his joy at being able to come back to the UK for Christmas, but time will tell if this will become a reality.
