Jessie J's biggest gig ever
Jessie J is preparing to play her biggest gig to date this Sunday, when she performs at the 2011 MTV VMAs.
A worldwide TV audience of millions as well as the biggest names in music will all watch Jessie perform as the house band, throughout Sunday's show at the Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles.
Speaking exclusively to showbiz reporter Kevin Hughes in LA about her role, Jessie admitted "It's amazing to be the first female house band ever to play the VMs. To be honest with you, it really hasn't sunk in yet...every single person that I've wanted to hear me sing is going to be in the room at the same time."
Jessie will perform 17 different tracks, sitting on a throne in front of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Adele and the biggest names in the music industry. The 'Do it like a dude' star confessed to us "I literally haven't slept since I got here as I've got lyrics going through my head, from Cee Lo Green to Katy Perry, but it's alright. I'm literally doing a lot of songs, two minutes on most of them including my own hits."
Adele and Pitbull are just two of the artists to perform at this year's VMAs but Jessie confessed that she cannot wait to see Beyonce. "I'm excited about seeing Beyonce again. I'm like a little kid when I'm around her as she's such an inspiration. I'm hoping she'll remember me after meeting her at recent London show. But I'm also seriously excited for Adele. I hope delivers a killer performance, just like she did at the Brits."
Amy Winehouse tribute
It's also rumoured that Russell Brand will present an Amy Winehouse tribute during the show and that Bruno Mars will cover one of the late singer's songs. Jessie admitted that it'll probably hit home to a lot of artists on the night. "It hasn't sunk in for me yet really. So many of us UK female artists are able to do what we do because of Amy, it's such a sad sad loss but her music will live forever. I'm just really proud to be carrying on in the footsteps and standards that she set."
Jessie is also planning to walk the red carpet with jewelled crutches and told us that she plans to decorate her foot cast in swarovski jewels. And how many costume changes? 'Two and that's a lot for me as my foot hurts but my red carpet carpet outfit is the stealer, so it's all good."
The MTV VMAs are this Sunday and you can watch the show on MTV UK Monday, 9pm
