Katy Perry on her success

Katy believes keeping “good people around” is the key to dealing with the pressures of being one of the biggest names in pop.

The California Gurl has revealed how her close friends and family, especially now-sober husband Russel Brand, have helped keep her away from the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

She told the The Express Tribune: "I like to keep good people around me, people who sometimes it’s difficult to be around because they’re not ‘yes’ people. My husband is definitely one of those, he keeps me accountable...he supports me and loves me but he doesn’t lie to me, which is really important.

The 26 year-old admits that she's let her hair down on occasions but now realises it could have an impact on her music if taken too far. "In the very beginning there was a lot of, ‘Oh let’s go celebrate,’ always champagne and parties and that was something that was taking energy from me that I needed to give to my career in that moment".

Katy is currently on her Teenage Dream world tour and is about to make her movie debut in the upcoming animation movie The Smurfs.
