Katy Perry - California Gurls

Here's Katy's homage to her home state, apparently an answer song to Jay-Z's tribute to New York in 'Empire State of Mind'.

In an interview with the Rolling Stones Magazine Katy revealed that she was tired of New York always getting the attention and thought her home state of California deserved a shout-out.

She teams up with Snoop Dogg in this summery track, which serves as the lead single of her third studio album 'Teenage Dream'.

The song reached number one and went platinum in a number of countries, including the UK, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

The music video was directed by Matthew Cullen and was inspired by the work of Will Cotton - an American painter whose work primarily features landscapes composed of sweets, often inhabited by human subjects. He certainly sticks to that theme here...
