Jolie breaks down in tears after receiving an honorary award in Sarajevo.
She was awarded the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo, as it's known, for her "exceptional career in the movie world, but also due to her exceptional engagement in the real world," the festival's director Mirsad Purivatra said at the ceremony.
He went on to praise the 36 year-old's efforts to help Bosnia's refugees during in the 90's, a conflict which saw around 100,000 people lose their lives. The A-Lister visited Bosnia twice in 2010 as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, meeting as many refugees as she could.
It was an emotional night for all involved as Angelina embraced boyfriend Brad Pitt when she left the stage.
"I will start crying if you don't stop, she said in a quivering voice. I told Brad in the car I was afraid I was going to cry. I am so honoured to be here at this festival. There is no greater example of the strengths of the artists and the festival that began during the Bosnian war and grew stronger every year."
Jolie was also honoured for her film In The Land Of Blood And Honey, her directional debut, which is a touching love story set amidst the Bosnian War.
For the film festival she wore an elegant floor-length peach gown, with three-quarter length bat wing sleeves and a slit up to the thigh.
