She may be one of the world's most recognisable faces in the world but in 2011 Kate Moss was turned away by security from watching a surprise performance by Pulp at Glastonbury festival.
If you love Chic's disco classic Freak Out!, then you've got the doormen at the legendary nightclub Studio 54 in New York CIty to thank! When band members Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were turned away at the door, they turned their frustration into their hit track that peaked at number one in both the US and UK charts.
The 22-year-old actress allegedly got turned away from a bakery in New York when she tried to purchase a 'cronut'. Julia Roberts' niece was left shamefaced when she tried to skip the long queue to get her hands on the newest food craze sweeping across America, only to be sent back to the end. When the We Are The Millers star was forced to wait in line like everybody else, she decided her cravings for the delicious looking half-croissant, half-doughnut hybrid could wait and promptly left with her publicist!
Kanye West is another celebrity who suffered embarrassment at Paris Fashion Week this September. A representative of the high end fashion brand Balmain told American magazine Page Six: “Mr. West requested to attend and we let him know we would not be able to accommodate him. He chose to come to the door anyway and we kindly let him know we could not accommodate him.” The rapper, who is known for his superstar ego had to promptly disappear to “a separate part of the hotel" a source told the magazine, "so people didn’t see him”.
They're arguably one of the biggest boybands in the world, but apparently that doesn't always mean you get what you want. The Best Song Ever singers were allegedly turned away from a snazzy London night spot when they arrived wearing incorrect dress code. The English-Irish band are rumoured to have been shown the door by bouncer Claud Achaumé, who responded to the heckle “Don’t you realise who they are? This is One Direction!” by one of the boys posse, with the reply “They’re going in one direction, that’s away from here.”
She's known for living life in the fast lane, but Rihanna may have partied a little too hard at London's Rose Club last year. In September 2012 RiRi allegedly landed herself in trouble when she fell off a table she was dancing on and was escorted out by security. However, the Diamonds singer was rumoured to be allowed to stay when she was recognised as one of the world's biggest stars by the club's manager.
The Hollywood darling surprised us all when she behaved in a way quite unlike her squeaky clean image. The Walk The Line actress let a night out get the better of her when she was arrested for disorderly conduct in April 2013. Witherspoon's wrath was triggered when her husband Jim Troth was pulled over for a sobriety test by a state policeman in Atlanta. The police report records Witherspoon as defiantly asking the state trooper, "Do you know my name sir?" and following this with the diva-like statement "You're about to find out who I am." The actress later publicly apologised for her behaviour on ABC's Good Morning America.
The legendary Mowtown singer was apparently asked to leave the Los Angeles eating establishment La Scala when she refused to recognise their policy that requires all members of a party to be present before guests are allowed to be seated. When Ross chose not to observe this and sat down at her table anyway she was asked to leave. The restaurant's owner Gigi Leon, told The New York Post "We treat everyone the same whether you're famous or not."
He may be a multi-million album selling artist, but unfortunately for Justin Bieber that doesn't automatically guarantee his entry into his nightclub of choice. The Canadian pop singer was no doubt left frustrated when he was turned away from Sankeys nightclub in Manchester last February, whilst he was in the city on his Believe tour. The club posted the news to their Twitter account: "Yes the rumours are true... we turned Justin Bieber away last night. He shuffles on stage and we can't be having that in Sankeys now can we!!"
