DiCaprio the villain?
Leonardo has reportedly scooped the role of the villain in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Western 'Django Unchained'.
Creative Screenwriting magazine's senior editor Jeff Goldsmith recently tweeted: "Casting Rumor [sic]: Leonardo DiCaprio WILL play villian [sic] Calvin Candie in Tarantino's Django Unchained! QT wanted him for [Inglourious Basterds] & now has him!"
The Western will tell the story of a bounty hunter who befriends and mentors Django, an escaped slave, helping him free his wife from an evil farmer named Calvin Candie.
A host of Hollywood stars have also been linked with a role.
Will Smith was rumoured to be in talks to play Django but The Wire's Idris Elba sparked rumours he was in talks for the part this week when he tweeted: "Having one of the biggest meetings of my professional life today... meeting a very controversial director for a very controversial part."
Hard-man Samuel L. Jackson and Oscar-winning Christoph Waltz, who have both worked with Quentin before, have also been tipped to star in the film alongside DiCaprio.
It's thought Tarantino is planning to shoot the film in the autumn, with the location yet to be confirmed.
