Soap bosses have confirmed that the fan favourite will step back onto Albert Square.
He’s back back back! Dean Gaffney, aka the loveably goofy character Robbie Jackson, will return to EastEnders this year – and we can’t wait!
Robbie, who was, more often than not, accompanied by his trusty dog Wellard, joined Albert Square in 1993 but left 14 YEARS AGO as he moved to India.

Dean has returned to the role before, when Robbie spent eight episode back on EastEnders 2015, as we said farewell to his mum, Carol (played by Lindsay Coulson). He also made a guest appearance in 2006.
Back then, it turned out that Robbie was no longer living in India and had moved to Milton Keynes. But his return to Albert Square is indefinite, which is fantastic news for soap fans!
Dean said of the move: “I’m really happy to be back. I’m so lucky to be given the chance to work again with such a talented group of people. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
EastEnders producer Sean O’Connor said: “Bridge Street Market has never quite been the same without Robbie policing it in his hi-viz jacket.”

He added: "Dean brings a wonderful warmth and fun to his portrayal of Robbie and I’m sure that audiences will take him to their hearts again, just as they have always done.”
The real question, of course, is whether Robbie will accompanied by a furry friend. We met Wellard II in 2015 – and it’s been confirmed that the pooch WILL be back for good, too. Hurrah!

Dean was just 15 when he was first cast in Eastenders and since leaving the show has appeared in Extras, Misfits and of course the 2006 edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Robbie will appear on our screen from early summer – and he’s sure to bring a smile to the faces of soap fans everywhere.
