Sir Michael Caine has heard rumour that he could be in the running to play one of the 'bad grandpas' in a film about the Hatton Garden jewellery heist - and he told Heart that he'd be totally up for it! 

For those of you who don't know, the Hatton Garden heist the name given to a burglary that happened in London in 2015, where a of four pensioners stole up to £200 million from a safe deposit company. We know right, it already sounds like an epic storyline for a Hollywood film. 

Whilst promoting his film 'Youth', the veteran actor said that he'd also heard that Ray Winstone's name has also been floating around to play one of the burglars too. 

"[The papers] suggested that they should make a film of it with Ray Winstone and me. And I agree with them," told Heart. 

"Of course Ray Winstone would agree, he's played my son before!"

The Italian Job

Of course, if the film does go ahead, it wouldn't be the first heist he'd ever been part of. Caine played 

Caine, who turns 83 in March and is famous for his prominent cockney accent, also said that leading roles for actors his age gets harder. 

It's reported by Screen International that UK company Metronome is among the backers for a film, which has the working title The Hatton Garden Job.

We know we shouldn't get to excited - it is just a rumour at the moment but really this one film we really do hope gets made!
