Who is the other Harry? Where did he come from? We have SO many questions.
Snape's First Words To Harry Potter Hides An Incredibly Cryptic Message
It took some real wizardry to figure this one out...
Just when you think you know everything there is to know about Harry Potter, the fandom delve deeper and reveal new information that shocks us all over again.
The rocky relationship between Harry and Severus Snape has been detangled now that fans have found what they believe to be cryptic messages from the Professor.
Tumblr user, Tom Hiddles, shared his theory on how compassionate Snape - played by the late Alan Rickman - actually is.
If you cast your mind back to 'Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone', the first thing Snape says to Harry is:
"Mr Potter. Our new celebrity,"
"What would I get if i added What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?”
At the time, we all assumed that it was just a really difficult question about potions, but apparently there is a VERY different angle that takes on whole new meaning.
According to Tom Hiddles, the question actually holds a cryptic messages about the death of Harry's mother Lilly.
He writes: "According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolised bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death."
As we found out in the later books, Snape was in love with Harry's mother when they attended school together so THIS now makes total sense.
Our hearts have broken.
If you dig a little deeper into the books, asphodel was believed to have cured snake bites and as we all know Harry's mother sacrificed her own life to save Harry from Voldemort - who is also associated with snakes!
Our minds our blown!
