Stop Everything! Is Downton Abbey Coming To The Big Screen?
'Downton Abbey' writer Julian Fellowes says he’s pretty sure we can expect a movie follow-up of the hit ITV drama...
Good news for for fans of stiff upper lips and withering put-downs – a Downton Abbey movie might be on the cards and we can't contain our excitement!
Following the show's success at this year's NTAs (winning 'Best Drama') the mastermind behind the show, Julian Fellowes, says he's pretty sure he'll be penning a Downton Abbey movie.
Talking to the Radio Times, the 66-year-old writer said: "I'm completely up for a movie, I'd love to do a movie. I think it would be good fun but there are all sorts of things that have to be settled.
"The per cent chance of making the film is about 64.5."
Guys, GUYS! That’s nearly two thirds! It’s defo in the bag then!
He added: "I think I know what the spine of a story for a film would be. I think it would be fun, in a sense, because we'd be making it on a film budget."
You'll also be pleased to know that the show's producer, Gareth Neame, is backing the movie plans too.
He told The Sun in December: "There is no script and no firm plan, but it's certainly something there is talk of.
"We're not in denial about anything. We’ll know more next year."
No script yet, you say? Maybe, it's time to bring Matthew Crawley back from the dead via some sort of Doctor Who-style police phone box?
The first one is easy, then it gets harder from there.
It's always hard to find something to amuse the kids with during half term, but a great fail safe is ALWAYS the cinema!
