Stacey young dies after 2 year battle with cancer

The model passed away on Friday after a two-year battle with cancer.

British rockstar Rod Stewart called Paul Young's wife Stacey 'warm' and 'wonderful' after news of the model's death arose on Friday.

Leading the celeb tributes, the 73-year-old singer-songwriter wrote:

"My dear Paul Young, my heart goes out to you for your loss. Stacey was warm, wonderful and always got the joke. Much love - Rod".

Paul, who was married to Stacey for 31 years, later revealed it was Rod that got the pair together in the first place.

Paul replied, "Thanks Rod: still can’t believe you recommended the brunette! And you were spot on x"

Other tributes came from Former Eastenders actors Patsy Palmer and Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp amongst others.

In a post for Paul, Patsy wrote, "Hey Paul. I'm so sad and very sorry for your loss. I loved Stacey she was a beautiful angel inside and out . You are all in my prayers."

While Martin posted, "Love going out to Paul Young and family tonight... So sad to hear Stacey lost her battle today! Our thoughts and love are with you all Mx"

Actress Sheree Murphy who played Tricia Dingle in Emmerdale also gave her condelences, writing, "So sad to hear the news that Stacey Young has lost her battle with cancer.. I met her a few times and she was such a lovely lady.. RIP Stacey.. you’ll be missed.. @PaulYoungParlez"

Wife of the Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood also paid tribute to the mother-of-three calling Stacey a 'lovely woman'.

Jason Donovan reminisced about the model always being "full of energy" with a "warm big heart and a big smile" before offering his condolences to Paul.

Overwhelmed by the messages of support,  Paul took to Twitter to show how much he appreciated everyone's 'lovely' words.

He said, "Twitter keeps jamming with your lovely messages so I can’t get to read them all! But I appreciate every one x"

Paul and Stacey first met back in 1983 after the model, who was known at the time as Stacey Smith, appeared in the music video for his single Come Back and Stay.

The singer songwriter shares three children with Stacey - daughters Levi and Layla, and son Grady as well as step-son Jude.

The Rocker announced the sad news of Stacey's death on Twitter on Friday saying, "Sadly Stacey has passed away today after a 2 year fight with brain cancer. She died peacefully at our home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude"

A statement from his publicist said that "The family respectfully ask for privacy at this time.".
