George Clooney: alcohol helps calm me
Golden Globes 2012
It's a veritable who's who at the Golden Globes, with the biggest names in Hollywood turned up for one of the grandest and glitziest events of the year
The 50-year-old actor joked that he likes to get ‘hammered’ before award ceremonies, as it helps him to be less anxious.
Clooney was one of the stars of last night’s Golden Globes, picking up best actor in a drama for for his performance in The Descendants.
‘You do start drinking. I have and there’s nothing better than being really drunk and presenting,’ he reportedly joked. I’m presenting Moneyball with Brad [Pitt], so I should be pretty hammered when I get out there.’
The actor took to the stage leaning heavily on a cane, in reference to Pitt’s recent injury, but made sure to broadcast his admiration for his fellow film star.
‘I wanted to say it’s nice to see Brad, and it’s nice to be able to tell him not just what wonderful work he’s doing in two films this year,’ the hunk said. ‘But what wonderful work he does in the rest of the world to the rest of the people.’
The Descendants also won the Golden Globe for best drama picture.
