Pogues song most played this century

'Fairytale Of New York' by Pogues has been named as the most played Christmas song in the 21st Century.

Ok, so we're only 11 years into this century but it's still a good achievement considering its competition.

It ousted classics such as Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' Wham's 'Last Christmas', Slade's 'Merry Xmas Everybody' and Wizzard's 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday'.

'Fairytale of New York' is regarded by many as the best festive song never to top the singles chart and during its history the song has returned to the Christmas Top 20 on seven different occasions.
