Johnny Depp signs on for Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Johnny Depp has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 in 2015.

The actor's performances of the swashbuckling pirate are some of the most loved in his career, and have earnt him a staggering £200 million.

The 49-year-old actor, who is allegedly dating his Rum Diaries co-star Amber Heard - also revealed that Disney had originally thought Depp's Sparrow persona was too hard to understand.

'They didn't understand the character. They were actually contemplating subtitling the film,' he said, according to the Metro.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is reportedly set for release in July 2015.
