A39 roadworks near Bridgwater

Work to make traffic and pedestrian improvements to the Crandon Bridge Junction on the A39 at Bridgwater is expected to last 12 weeks from November 9th.

The work will include the installation of permanent, computer monitored and controlled traffic-lights, resurfacing the road and footpaths and upgrading the existing east bound bus stop, where the Bath road and Puriton road meet.

Councillor David Hall, Cabinet Member responsible for Strategic Planning and Economic Development said 'these works form an important part of the overall changes needed to our highway network to accommodate the traffic that will be generated by Morrison's new distribution centre and the residential development currently under construction in North East Bridgwater. To minimise disruption to traffic, much of the key construction work will be carried out overnight, which will mean that road restrictions can be lifted during the day.'
