Museum Of Somerset Award Bid

The Museum of Somerset in Taunton is seeking support from visitors to help win the title of ‘Britain’s Most Family-Friendly Museum’.

The museum has entered the 2013 Telegraph Family-Friendly Museum Award and needs your nominations to win. Susie Simmons, Visitor Services Manager at the museum, said:

Our aim is to provide a friendly and welcoming environment for families. Whether you enjoy trying on costumes, handling real museum objects, exploring the galleries with a trail or spending time in the courtyard – please take the time to nominate us.”

You can nominate the museum by emailing award@kidsinmuseums.org.uk explaining why it deserves to win. The closing date is 10 May.

The museum has recently signed up to the ‘Kids in Museums’ manifesto – a commitment to provide an exceptional family-friendly visit. The manifesto contains 20 points which encourage museums to be family-friendly, from offering activities and events for all ages to providing a comfortable and safe place for families to enjoy. As part of this commitment, the museum will continue to allow children to touch real museum objects, ensure spaces are clean and tidy and provide healthy and good-value food, amongst other criteria.
