16-year-old Boy Robbed In Totton
Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Totton on Wednesday August 18.
It happened as the victim, a 16-year-old local boy, rode his bike along an alleyway close to Ringwood Road just before 2pm.
Two men stopped the boy and demanded that he hand over his bike. When he refused they pulled him from his bike and kicked and punched him.
The bike, a white Specialized P1 jump bike with paint flicker graphics on the frame and seat and blue wheel hubs, was stolen by the offenders. One of the men rode the bike while the other ran alongside it as they headed towards Totton town centre via Ringwood Road.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a lump to the back of his head, a small cut to his hand and marks on his left arm and knee. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital to be checked over.
The first offender is described as:
19 to 20-years-old
Ginger hair and stubble
Wearing a black top with block writing on it and grey trousers.
The second suspect is described as:
19 to 20-years-old
Around 6ft tall
Wearing a grey tracksuit top with the hood up and grey tracksuit trousers.
Detective Constable Naomi Mellish said:
“This is a very nasty crime against a young boy. Thankfully his injuries were not serious but he has been left very shaken and the offenders have shown that they were prepared to use violence to get what they wanted.
“The bike that was stolen during this incident was very distinctive. I would like to hear from anybody who has information about the incident or who thinks they may have seen the bike following the crime.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact DC Naomi Mellish at Lyndhurst CID on 101. Alternatively you can call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
