19-Year-Old Badly Hurt In Moped Crash

Police are appealing for information following a collision involving a car and a moped on Bridge Road in Swanwick.

It happened just after 11am on Wednesday October the 12th when the moped rider, a 19-year-old woman from Gosport and a Ford Focus car, collided on Bridge Road at the junction with Swanwick Lane.

The rider was thrown from the vehicle and sustained fractures to her arms and legs. She was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance where her injuries are not considered life threatening.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were also called to cut the front seat passenger of the Ford Focus car out of the vehicle when she complained of neck and back pain.

The 78-year-old from Weston-Super-Mare was also taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

The 78-year-old driver was sustained minor cuts and bruises.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Sgt Shaun Hopkins at Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Bainbridge.
