60 Memorial Plaques Stolen From Cemetery

Thieves have stolen 60 memorial plaques from a cemetery, police said today.

The plaques formed part of a circle of remembrance within the cemetery grounds at Lyndhurst in Hampshire. They were stolen between September 19 and September 22.

Chief Inspector Gary Cooper, from Hampshire police, said:

"This is a particularly callous crime. The theft of these plaques placed as a memorial to loved ones who have passed away is very upsetting for their family and friends.

"I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious around the cemetery or who has any information about the whereabouts of these stolen plaques.''
