6k Cannabis Factory Found In Portsmouth

Police officers in Portsmouth uncovered a cannabis factory worth £6,000 in Cosham today (Wednesday, January 19)

Four officers from the Paulsgrove and Cosham Safer Neighbourhoods teams conducted a warrant at around 7.20am on a property in Dursley Crescent in Paulsgrove, and discovered the factory in the loft of the house.

PC Patch Collins of the Paulsgrove Safer Neighbourhoods team said:

“We found 27 plants that had been grown to over a metre in height and half a metre across, and luckily we had good timing as none of the plants had been harvested for the next stage in the drug production.”

The plants were being grown in an environment catered for them, with hydroponics equipment to aid growth.

The teams acted after receiving intelligence from the community indicating suspicious activity and a strange smell coming from the house.

PC Collins added:

“The plants we found today have an approximate street value of £6,000, which is great news for the local area.

“We want to thank the members of the community who came forward with information about the property, and hope this sends out the message that we will not tolerate drug related activity.”
