Arrest Over Portsmouth Hammer Attack

Police investigating a serious assault on a 17-year-old girl in Shearer Road, Portsmouth on Monday, April 11 have made an arrest.

A 28-year-old man from Portsmouth has been charged overnight with attempted murder in connection with an attack on a teenage girl at a house in the city last month.

James Hemming of Cross Street is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates later.

The 17-year-old victim is still in hospital and was seriously injured in Shearer Road on Monday 11 April.
