Arson Attacks At Shops In Southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after two arson attacks in Bitterne, Southampton.

At around half past midnight on April 1, someone set a fire in a courtyard garden at Bitterne Road. The garden belongs to a flat above a shop.
 
The fire took hold and burnt through a “lean to” at the front of the property and caused damage to the front of the building.
 
In addition, at 9.50pm on March 31, an item in the garden was set on fire.
 
The flat is empty and no one was harmed by either fire. The fire service attended on both occasions.
 
Detective Constable Danielle Daltrey who is investigating said: “There have been five previous fires in the area behind the row of shops on Bitterne Road this year.
 
“We would like to hear from anyone who knows who is responsible or has any information which could help our investigation.”
