Hampshire Police Have Car Crash Display to Warn People Of The Dangers Of Drink Driving.
Bikers Ride-Out For Jade Clark
Dozens of motorbike and scooter riders are taking part in a 'ride-out' through Hampshire in memory of teenager Jade Clark.
Jade was involved in a road traffic collision whilst riding her moped on the A31 at Ringwood on 24th February.
The ride-out is being organised by Tony and Karen Wray from Farnborough, who heard about Jade's death and wanted to prevent it from happening to someone else.
The ride is starting from Farnborough with stops/pick ups along the way at Fleet, Winchester, Rownhams and Picket Post Services. The ride will terminate at Ringwood Rugby Club, where riders will gather for refreshments.
16-year-old Jade's mum and dad will then take part in an event designed to raise awareness of the dangers for motorbike, scooter and moped riders. Hampshire Fire and Rescue will have a safety bike there for displays, and two Hampshire Police bikes are expected to ride down, with officers giving out information and answering questions.
Co-organiser Karen Wray said:
"My husband Tony heard about Jade's death and it upset him quite badly. He felt that he wanted to do something in her memory and hopefully try to prevent anything like this happening to anyone in the future.
"I think it was because our son actually got taken off his motorbike last year on our housing estate, but luckily he didn't have any major injuries. We're trying to educate people to keep their eyes open because fatalities can happen so quickly and so easily.
"I can feel immensely for Jade's mum. We've actually spoken to her on the phone, which was lovely.
"It's just something that if you can prevent, or hope to, that's what we want to do.
"If we can educate anybody, even if it means that they know what to do if they came across an accident, and somebody's life somewhere along the line got saved, it'll be beneficial."
Extra officers and specially-trained staff are starting visits to vulnerable people - as reports tend to increase at Christmas.
