Couple Rescued From Bog In New Forest
A couple have been rescued after getting stuck in a bog in the New Forest.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service say the elderly man and woman found themselves stuck in boggy ground near the Smugglers Road car park in Burley just before 5pm on Thursday afternoon (20 February).
Two helicopters were used to help locate them.
It took more than an hour to free the couple. They were then handed over to the ambulance service but neither was hurt.
Approximately 25 personnel attended and appliances were used from Lyndhurst, Fareham, Ringwood, Burley and Eastleigh.
640 men were killed when the South African troop carrier was hit by a cargo ship in 1917.
The 79-year-old man suffered a serious head injury in the Cranmer Road car park in Winton.
