Dog Bites 8-Year-Old Boy

Police are appealing for more information after an eight-year-old boy was injured by a dog in Cosham.

A Jack Russell-type dog was tied up outside a Tesco store in the High Street by a woman on Sunday, July 15, 2012.

The boy from Portsmouth approached the dog and it has bitten the top of one of his fingers.

He went to hospital for treatment to a puncture wound and is now back at home.

The woman with the dog was described as:

> Aged in her 60s

> Short blonde hair

> Wearing a bright red coat

Investigating officer PC Jackie McMurchie said: "We believe this woman is local as she was walking the small dog. There were also many other members of the public going in and out of Tesco on Cosham High Street.

"I'm appealing for the woman and any other witnesses to come forward and contact the police."

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Southsea police station by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 01962 875000. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
