Hampshire police have released an e-fit of man they want to speak with in connection with a distraction burglary in Stockbridge.

It happened between 3pm and 4pm on Friday, August 27 at a home in Nelson Close.

The suspect came to the elderly victim’s house and asked for payment for gardening work he said he had completed. After he left, the victim noticed that £60 had been taken from her handbag.

The suspect is described as:

-White

-Aged 40-45 years

-Approx 5ft 8 tall

-Round clean shaven face

-Large round eyes

-Wavy blonde/greying hair

-Medium build

-Clean shaven

He was wearing light coloured clothing

Detective Constable Danielle Robinson said: “Incidents like this are very rare in the area. When they do occur, offenders tend to target the most vulnerable members of the community.

“I would ask people to be vigilant and to look out for their elderly friends, family and neighbours. I would also urge people to be cautious when strangers knock on the door. Always ask for identification and if you are at all unsure then do not let them into your house.

“I would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident or who recognises the man in the e-fit image as he may be able to help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Danielle Robinson at Andover CID on 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
