Elderly Couple Burgled In Gosport

Police are continuing to investigate a report of a burglary in Gosport.

A house on The Avenue was broken into sometime between 10.30am on Monday, September 10, 2012 and 3pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.

Jewellery, cash and Euros were reported stolen by the elderly couple who live in the house.

The burglary was reported to police on Thursday, September 13, 2012.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Tara Magnus said:

“Did you see or hear anything that may be connected to this burglary? Have you seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area recently? Have you heard about the burglary or have you been offered any of the stolen property? Can you assist the police with any information?"

Witnesses or anyone else with information are asked to contact CID at Gosport police station by phoning 101. Mini-Com users can call the police on 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

Detective Constable Magnus added:

“Our crime prevention advice to residents is secure doors and windows when you leave your premises. If you are staying away overnight, leave lights, a TV or radio on or ask someone you trust to check on the property if possible. If you see anyone or hear anything suspicious, please report it as soon as practical to the police. In an emergency, always dial 999."
