Elton John closed Bestival on Sunday night as the event celebrated ten years on the Isle of Wight.

Thousands of people will head home today (Monday 9 September) after watching  around 350 acts across 25 stages over the past four days.

The last party of the summer came to an end with Rocket Man Elton John bringing festivities to a close as the event celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Revellers mostly avoided muddy conditions despite occasional showers during the weekend.

Snoop Dogg was among the other headliners over the weekend.

David Howlett from Southsea said: "It was great to see one of the all-time hip-hop greats, you don't have many chances to see such a big star, but he didn't half swear.''

The weekend was kicked off by Fatboy Slim, who took the Friday-night headline slot which ended with a fireworks display.

The Flaming Lips also got into the party spirit by leading the crowd in a rendition of Happy Birthday for the festival.

The event at Robin Hill Country Park, which is run by Rob da Bank and his illustrator wife Josie, has become famous for its fancy dress parade and colourful set designs.

This year's theme was HMS Bestival so many mermaids and pirates could be seen across the festival site and a boat had been installed as a stage in the Port arena.
