Fresh Appeal Over Train Assault

Investigators from British Transport Police are still looking for a man after woman was touched indecently on a train on Wednesday, 3rd October.

Police previously appealed to the public last month but still need people to come forward to help identify the man.

PC Mark Stook, investigating officer, said:

“Around 11.30am, the victim, a 23-year-old woman from Southampton, was travelling on a train between Southampton Central and Totton.

“As the train approached Totton, a man sat behind the victim stood up and touched her in an indecent manner before leaving the train.”

Police have conducted several lines of enquiry into the incident and have released images of a man they believe has key information about the incident.

Since their last appeal, officers have obtained an image of a distinctive backpack the man was thought to be wearing.

PC Stook added: “The incident understandably left the victim feeling shocked and shaken, and I would encourage anyone who saw the man at the time, or knows who he is, to get in touch.”
