Funeral For Beach Rescue Hero

The funeral's taken place for a man who drowned rescuing at little girl from the sea in West Sussex.

On Saturday 26 May 2012, Plamen Petkov, 32, from Sutton, died off the coast at West Wittering whilst rescuing a 5-year-old girl who was adrift on an inflatable.
His funeral took place on Tuesday 12th June at a private service at Sutton Cemetery, attended by family and friends.

In order to honour his memory, and recognise his heroic and selfless act, Plamen's family have decided to support the RNLI and its Forever by the Sea Fund, supporting the charity's work to provide first class service to make Britain's beaches safer.

For those who would like to support this cause, donations can be made online at: 'Plamen Petkov Forever by the Sea fund' webpage or by posting a cheque with a covering note giving Plamen Petkov's name to: RNLI, West Quay Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1HZ (01202 663504).
