Gosport MIU Shut Due To Break-In

It's been confirmed that the Minor Injuries Unit in Gosport will reopen on Friday 13th April - after being forced to shut because of a break in.

The Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust had to close the unit at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital for the whole of Thursday Aprol 12th to clean it up after a break-in overnight.

Officials say they're working closely with Hampshire Police.

Isabel Gaylard, Head of Nursing for Emergency Medicine at Portsmouth Hospital said: "We are extremely disappointed that this break in to the unit has meant that there is a disruption to this valued service"

People with minor injuries were advised to attend the Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham just for the one day.

This can include injuries such as fractures and breaks, or breathing difficulties.

NHS Direct (0845 46 47) is available 24 hours a day to speak to a trained nurse about your condition, or seek advice from your local pharmacist or GP.
