Hampshire Firefighters Take On Big Challenge

Two Cosham-based firefighters are running 11 marathons in 11 days, raising money for The Big Donor Challenge.

Crew manager Stu Vince and Firefighter Phil Jackson from Blue Watch Cosham Fire Station will be running from the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, all the way down to Lands End in May 2012.

This will be a total of 11 marathons in 11 days.

Once at Lands End they will then row back non stop to Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth.

The aim of the event is to raise £20,000 or more for the QA hospital and Southampton General Hospital, but on a far wider scale to try to raise awareness of people in the UK carrying Organ Donor cards. Currently only 29% of the UK population carry these.

Stu Vince successfully became an Organ Donor this year by donating a kidney to a family friend.
